DIRECTIONS TO MOLINO DEL SANTO FROM GIBRALTAR
There are two ways to get to Molino from Gibraltar. The coastal route via San Pedro de Alcantara is quicker and easier driving although not quite as picturesque as the inland route via Gaucin.
1) COASTAL ROUTE – approximately 105 minutes in total – 60 minutes from San Pedro.
Leaving Gibraltar, head for the N-340, A7 in the Málaga direction to San Pedro de Alcantara. At San Pedro take the Ronda road at km 172 after passing through a tunnel and in 45km arrive on the outskirts or Ronda. Now follow signs for Sevilla that will keep you on the Ronda by-pass. Just after a third entrance into Ronda, you will enter a deep cutting with a sharp right-handed bend. About 1km after this cutting there is a junction to the left signposted to BENAOJAN; CORTES DE LA FRONTERA – the MA-7401 – as well as Montejaque and Jimera de Libar.
Take this road and follow it for approximately 10km. Take care some of the surface is very good, other sections less so. After passing over two bridges in close succession – one over the river, one over the railway – there is a junction to the left by a large palm tree signposted “ESTACION DE BENAOJAN” and with a Molino del Santo sign. Take this road into the train station of Benaoján and follow signs for Molino del Santo.
2) INLAND ROUTE via Gaucin. Approximately 120 minutes
Leaving Gibraltar head through La Linea to join the NM-340, A-7 in the direction of Algeciras. Take the junction to Estación de San Roque and here follow signs for Ronda. This road takes you through or near various villages including Almoraima, Castellar, Jimena de la Frontera, San Pablo de Buceite, Gaucin, Algatocín, Benadalid – always heading for Ronda. After Benadalid, just before the next willage of Atajate, there is a junction to the left to JIMERA DE LIBAR. Take this road – it is narrow and winding but very quiet – as far as Jimera de Libar. Do not go into the village but follow the main road to the bottom of the valley. Just before you reach the valley floor, take a left had turn to cross over the railway and river on a large bridge.
Having crossed the bridge, turn right at the junction signposted BENAOJAN. Follow this road for about 12km to the outskirts of Benaoján village. At a T-junction, turn right, at a roundabout after 200, take the third exit – continuing on a road with a central rservation. Follow this road for about two kilometres until you see a junction to the right before you cross the river and railway bridges, Turn right at the tree and follow signs to ESTACION DE BENAOJAN – and Molino del Santo.
