Our area has been inhabited for thousands of years by various civilisations and there are lots of interesting things to see left by our early ancestors.
Just 10 mintues’ drive, or less than an hour’s walk from the hotel is the Cueva de la Pileta.
Guided visits by paraffin lamp light show you paintings and amazing stalactites and stalagmites. The Beatles visited the Cave in the 1960s and were so impressed with the acoustics that they did some recording here. Don’t miss it.
A half hour drive will bring you to Ronda la Vieja – the site of Roman Ronda. The hill top site itself has amazing views and there are the remains of an amphitheatre carved into the hillside along with a reconstructed stage.
At Bobastro, near El Chorro, you will find a Mozarabe church – carved out of the landscape.
