Molino To Jimera de Libar
Summary
The most popular walk for Molino guests. A relatively gentle 8km following the river
valley to the next station along a well-worn trail. Impossible to get lost as long as you
cross the river bridge in Benaoján. Shade in the mornings on hotter days.
The walk
- Head downhill from the Molino main gate, follow the lane to the left and cross the bridge over the stream. Turn right.
- Cross the railway crossing and continue straight until you cross the river. Turn right.
- Stay on this path, following signs for Jimera de Líbar. The river is always on your right. Continue for 7.5 km.
- How far is it to the station? Halfway is after you have passed two railway tunnels and then climbed an incline. There are some sturdy wooden posts on your right-hand side protecting a drop to the railway line. Shortly after this, the path heads inland for forty metres or so to cross a stream bed. Between these two features is the halfway point of the walk, so you can gauge how long you have to go to get to the station if you are catching a train.
- As you near Jimera and the valley opens out, there is a black and white sign advising of a railway crossing.
- Just after this is a huge new green bridge spanning the railway line. You can continue here to have a drink at a bar that is sometimes open, called Bar Aioli. Otherwise, you can continue on the path to explore the tiny Jimera de Líbar station.
- Return via the same route.
